I am having an identical problem. Using CREATIVE LABS WEBCAM ULTRA USB and a
Logitech Headset. System checks in Windows with the headset, also using
Creative WebCam Center, demonstrate Video/Audio works great. Also, in Live
Messenger, under the Tools tab, Video & Audio Setup, everything is great.
Then, when I get into a Video call, the video is great (although some delays
exist, since I am using dial-up), but the audio is non existent. The
microphone icon in WLM is just as you described. Someone suggested to me
that this problem may be with the frequency setting at which the transmission
is being made. I haven't played around with changing these settings. But,
any suggestions from the forum members would be helpful.

I can hear and see the other person as well. During the video conversation, the microphone indicator icon is on the lowest setting, however when I tried to adjust it, it will not move up or down. The Microphone Icon itself also does not do anything when I click it. When I mouse over it, it says it is for Mute, but if I click on it, there is not indication it has muted. When I go to the Tools tab and click on video/audio settings, it shows my microphone working and recognizing voice levels. When I open up the Lifecam program, I can record audio or short video clips and play them back fine. So I believe its not the microphone on the webcam, but it is a setting on the WLM that is the problem. I have uninstalled and reinstalled this program. Any suggestions would be really appreciated. Thanks.
