Greetings James,

Unfortunately in 8.0 this isn't possible at least without third party tools like MSN Backup
(which actually has source so you could copy the decryption code).

However, if you use 8.1 beta in both locations, it isn't too hard to do this as long as
you're logging into the same account.

The new location of the entire store of emoticons, winks, etc. in 8.1 is located at:
%userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Messenger\youremail\ObjectStore

Where youremail is your Windows Live ID/Passport e-mail address.

The received files (and history too) is located in
My Documents\My Received Files

(My Documents obviously being where ever the documents folder is stored in every situation).

I wouldn't suggest copying over the specific Messenger registry entries
(HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MSNMessenger \PerPassportSettings\number)

Where number corresponds to your account. You can find out this number here:

and i have found this directory

C:\documents and Settings\<USERNAME>\Contacts\<live account (emailformat)>\

and inside of it a lot of "*.WindowsLiveContact"

what is it ?

each file is the "ID" for each contact inside Windows Live Messenger ?

Thx a lot people.
