Hi,

I am using Windows Vista
Laptop: Acer Aspire 5100

I have managed to download WLM, yet when I double click it to start, the
little live icon appears [ as though it is loading ] but it won't show up.

Aaaargh ! I have tried downloading various versions of MSN...nothing will
open

Greetings,

By "little live icon" I assume you mean in the notification area (by the clock)? If so, when
you double-click it, does an entry for 'Windows Live Messenger' appear on the Taskbar?

If not, are you using a router? What you're describing can sometimes be attributed to a
router deadlocking Messenger.

Reset the router (aka unplug and plug back in) and if that doesn't resolve it, try seeing if
there's a firmware update for the router at the router manufacturers website.

The little live icon is the little symbol under the mouse icon which shows
that it is attempting to load.

I tried Windows Live at home - using the router [ as I went wireless ]
didn't work.

Now I am at University, connected up, and it still won't work.

It just won't open up...straaange

Greetings,

What you're describing is generally a problem with Messenger and a router on your local
network. Assuming you do have a router, you may need to either reset it (unplug it and plug
back in) and/or upgrading its firmware to the latest version from the router manufacturer.

If that's not the problem, you may need to install this:
