WLM Vista Crashing using shared folders

Whenever I am using shared folders with Live messenger on windows vista, the
whole computer completely freezes up. No mouse, no keyboard - absolutely
nothing! The screen stays static no movement at all - not even an error
message! the only way to get the computer working once again is to hit the
reset button on the front of the case..

Any ideas of cause or fix for the issue greatly appreciated!!
