WLM9 beta - list of problems after error 81000451

I was placing my Contacts into categories when my WLM 9 crashed and
since I have been having a host of problems with my Windows Live
account:

1. Unable to login using WLM 9 beta, saying "service is temporarily
unavailable" etc..... (error 81000451)

2. I can login using WLM v8.5 as before but when chatting with my
contacts, my name is not the same as what is being shown on my Messenger
(already tried changing to a different name on Window Live Messenger, no
difference) - the displayed name in the chat screens is mine, but cannot
find where the name is being stored in my Profile.

3. I synchronize my Messenger's Contacts list to the Contacts of
multiple Windows Mobile devices, and since error 81000451 I have not
been able to synchronize to any of my devices (all say "Synchronization
failed")



Just what is this 81000451 error anyway? I cannot find any information
about this error code. Judging from the errors and symptoms I have been
experiencing, I now suspect it is related to some kind of corruption of
my Windows Live ID account database caused when my WLM9 crashed.

Is Microsoft investigating this error? I see several people are also
experiencing 81000451 login problem and no one seems to know a fix or if
Microsoft is aware of the problem!

I am also experiencing this, i created a group and i deleted it.
Next time i tried to sign in to this live ID i got that error, but i can
sign in with all my other Live ID's.
This happens on all computers with this version of wlm and this liveID.
Microsoft should really fix this because alot of people can't get on the new
live messenger with their accounts.

after i sign in the new windows live beta everything goes good but after 8
seconds it signs out and whats wierd thing is it doesn't prompt any error
message i checked my internet connection since i got wireless and the are
good but made a test to started to download and limited the download just to
keep it connected but it stills does that thing any1 please help it would be
nice

You're going to have to provide more info to determine if its application based or Live ID.
What Live beta application(Mail, Messenger, etc)

Yo bro sorry my bad i have all the applications of windows live beta but the
one that signs out is messenger sorry wor the mistake

Hey Mesquire & Tristan,

Please delete your local contact cache to unblock sign-in.

Vista:
all folders under %localappdata%\Microsoft\Windows Live Contacts

XP:
all folders under %userprofile%\local settings\application
data\Microsoft\Windows Live Contacts.

If you can get this error to show up again, please post in exact details of
the steps you were doing before you received the error.

Hey Nick thanks for posting,
I tried your advice but it didnt work

I also have the same 81000451 error
I was toying around with the new contact syste
and also created a "group" to test out the feature
then i left it. Not sure if this was the causeo of the bug

But i can definitely sign in with 2 other hotmail accounts
so the application seems to be working, but my primary accoun
got corrupted somehow with saved data hidden somewhere in mydrive

Help would be much appreciated! (

Well, that didnt work for me

I contacted Ms support a while ago. They haven't sent me a solution yet, but
they could, however, reproduce the error on their side.
The last thing I did before the error started to occur was trying to sign in
at a second place (after a fresh installation) the same time: but that didn't
work and I got that error code 81000451 on my LT (the 2nd place). Back on
desktop PC it started to give the same error after I signed out and then
tried to sign in again...
It's REALLY ridiculous to have a problem like this not solved for so long by
Microsoft. I'm now using the old messenger 8.5 after I figured out a way to
install the this seperately (while not having to uninstall the rest of the
Windows Live beta package - which I do like!).
You may wanna do that too until Microsoft resolves this issue for EVER!

I have the exact same problem i cannot login now with Wave 3 Messenger. I
made a group called family decided it was a dud feature as no-one i know was
using the new version so i deleted, signed in and signed out due to the
internet crashing and not it just doesn't work it never signed back in. I
have cleared the contact cash its all gone... still this doesn't work. Any
help would be greatly appreciated.
