wlmail at command line

how i can start wlmail from command line with a new empty e-mail, like wlmail
/new or so on....?

You can't do that directly using WLMAIL.EXE.

But you can create a shortcut with a command line of just
mailto:
(note the colon at the end). That will start a new message in your
default mail program, whatever it is.

An alternate method is to start a new message than then do a File, Save
As to an EML file. Create a shortcut to that EML file. Double clicking
that will open the message template in whatever mail program is your
default for EML files (Window Live Mail, Vista Windows Mail or Outlook
Express).

So, following through from there, if WLMail doesn't have
the mailto protocol, just create a shortcut as if it did:

As it happens my default is OE at the moment
but I'm pretty sure when it was WLMail's it used
the same switch...

I just added that to my IE Favorites Bar, e.g. so it can be a button there.
Tip: just drag an existing WLMail shortcut there and then
right-click, Properties to modify it with the /mailurl: switch.

I didn't realize that mailurl: option existed. But I just tried it and
it works.

The advantage of that is you can explicitly open a WLM windows even
though it's not the default mail program.

Although for most people, the simple mailto: would be best since it will
open your default mail program which is probably what most people would
really want.
