Has anyone heard of this issue ? This is the first time I have and if
it's true, will really PO more Users.
I've advised the OP to send feedback via the link from this page
http://morethanmail.spaces.live.com/ and to post to the WLMD NG.

And, NO, I will NOT install this piece o' crud on any systems, VPC or
whatever.

Mow, the WMD, oop I mean WLMD, was a voluntary installation by OP.
The complaint is that MU replaced WU subsequent to the install. It's more
likely that it happened before the installation, because I remember being
switched from WU to MU - no live mail install involved - without requesting
the change a while ago and finding out here how to switch back to WU.

Can you recall what it was that switched the system from WU to MU ?
I sure hope installing beta software isn't switching update sites ...
that's malware-like behavior.

I assumed that WU switched me to MU. It's possible that, in
spite of being determined not to respond to the nagging, I told
it to, but I have no recollection of doing so. Kaspersky just
spent several hours looking at the box and found nothing.
Hijackthis found a small flaky something with the registry -
not enough to impel me to a clean install. Sorry I can't help.

I've asked around and have not heard of WLMD changing systems from WU to
MU. Perhaps NOT a tempest in a teapot ?
