Im hoping someone can help me asap with the problem ive got

All was working fine untill about 30 mins ago, basicly WLMessenger refuses
to open fully, when i either use the shortcut or the main exe, messenger
apears in task manager but it doesnt appear to be running, the main GUI & the
system tray icon doesnt come up.

Ive tried restarting, uninstalling reinstalling, and a system restore and
nothing seems to work, i had this problem a few months ago and i ended up
formatting and reinstalling as i couldnt find a fix.

Please please please can someone help me sort this problem out

ps windows messenger works fine, but Window Live Messenger doesnt

Greetings,

What you're describing can be typically a router deadlocking Messenger.

Assuming this is the case, reset the router (aka unplug and plug back in) and if that doesn't
resolve it, try seeing if there's a firmware update for the router at the router
manufacturers website.

Hi Johnathan

Thanks for your reply, i have tried what you have suggested and so far it
appears to be working, but whats got me confused is this, last night i was
working on this problem till 2am andi reinstalled messeger and shut down the
PC, this morning i booted it back up and messeger was working again.
So i downloaded the beta and then it started doing the same thing, so i
restarted the PC and the router and volla so far so good again.

Will let you know if it starts playing up again

Hi,

It sounds rather inconsistent which is pretty normal for these kind of router issues.

I am having the same issue as the first poster. However, I reset my router,
and there was no difference. Additionally, I know it's not a router issue
because all three of my housemates are running similar computers, and their
windows live messenger works fine. What's very strange is that I sometimes
see multiple copies of msnmsgr.exe in my processes (normally two) and they
take up vastly different amounts of memory (the averages are around 13000 kb
for one and 7000kb for the other). However, right now, the first is taking up
888 kb and the second, 244. There is nothing indicating these programs are
running anywhere else. I have run a full virus scan, spyware scan, checked
for registry crap, et cetera. Nothing. I am now on web messenger, and it is
working.

Help?
