WMC/TV Tuner and Digital Cable Box - Scrambled Signal

I am having a really hard time and I'm usually fairly good at troubleshooting
these things. I bought a new Acer Media Center with WMC and Windows Vista
installed.

My cable normally comes in through a set top box and then to the TV on a
normal cable wire, and then goes out of my cable box on either a normal wire
or component video to my TV. When I hooked up the computer, I connected the
cable box to the TV tuner card in the computer (YUAN Card) instead. On the
computer, the signal comes out garbled when I load it in WMC. On the TV, the
signal comes out fine if I move the cable over.

I can get the lower channels on the TV Tuner if I connect the cable from the
wall directly into the TV Tuner card on the computer, bypassing the set-top
box completely but I can't get the upper channels under any circumstances.

Anyone have ideas for me? I know so little about this technology that I
don't know where to start. I do have an IR transmitter of some kind as well
which might help... but again I'm not sure.

Any help appreciated.

Do you have the tuner set to channel 2 or 3?
If you are using a Cable Box it will have to be
set to one of these channels.
