Do you have any 3rd party sync modules (SSPs) installed? Crashes in
WmdHost.exe are caused by problems with sync engines. We have seen this mostly with 3rd party sync modules that haven't been updated for Vista yet. Also, when you get the crash, do you get the option to 'send the info to Microsoft'? If so, please do so. My team gets those reports and they contain the information we need to find out what causes the crash. -- Thanks, Steve Spiller Development Lead Windows Mobile Device Center This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. Steve,
I do not think I have any 3rd party sync modules. I did not install any, do you know of a way that I could check for sure? No, when it crashes I do not get the 'Send this to MS'. All I get is 'Check for a solution online' , 'Close this program', 'Debug the program'. When I click check for a solution online it seems like it is checking and then closes. Thanks for your help, I appreciate your willingness to work with me on this. -brian brackeen "Steve Spiller [MSFT]" wrote: > Do you have any 3rd party sync modules (SSPs) installed? Oh, ok, so it sounds like you have a debugger installed. In that case you
can choose to 'debug' and send me the stack traces and/or a dump file and that would help us figure it out. Also, if you go into the sync settings of WMDC you'll see the sync modules that are installed, like email, contacts, calendar, etc. -- Thanks, Steve Spiller Development Lead Windows Mobile Device Center This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. Steve,
Forgive me for being ignorant but I do not see how to do this? > Also, if you go into the sync settings of WMDC you'll see the sync modules > that are installed, like email, contacts, calendar, etc. Where are sync settings located? Below is the lengthy output from choosing to debug the application. When I choose to Debug, this is the first message that pops up: ========================================== Windows has triggered a breakpoint in WmdHost.exe. This may be due to a corruption of the heap, and indicates a bug in WmdHost.exe or any of the DLLs it has loaded. The output window may have more diagnostic information =========================================== Then I click "Break" and then this: ======================================= No symbols are loaded for any call stack frame. Thanks for the report. The Watson bucket ID is one of the most valuable
pieces of information that can be provided. With that we can the crash-dump file uploaded after the program crashes which contains what we need to debug the problem in the state it was in at the time of the crash. I'll reply to this thread with what we find. -- Thanks, Steve Spiller Development Lead Windows Mobile Device Center This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. <> wrote Steve,
May I also add my voice to the quest for a solution. I have also undertaken all the debugging and solution searches that Vista Business suggests I do with no success. Let me know what to do or send to you to help. Regards Mark |
