Hello,
Do see anything listed under Portable Devices in the Device Manager? And, can you browse the device's filesystem through the file explorer? Do you even see the device listed in the file explorer? Also, can you tell me the model name of your PPC and the exact OS version? From the log: wmdc Verbose: 0 : Could not obtain device WPD PnP ID This tells me that we can't find your device through the IPortableDevice interface, but you are connecting to the RAPI service. -- Thanks, Steve Spiller Development Lead Windows Mobile Device Center This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. Hi,
A possible problem is that you can only have 2 partnerships with the Pocket PC. WMDC should prompt you to delete a partnership on the device. If you are willing to consider a hard reset of the device it would rule this out. However you will lose all your data on the Pocket PC. -- Chris De Herrera http://www.pocketpcfaq.com http://www.tabletpctalk.com http://www.pocketpctalk.com http://www.mobilitytalk.com Windows Mobile Device Center FAQs - http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/faqs/wmdc/index.htm ActiveSync Troubleshooting Guide - http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/faqs/t-shootactivesync.htm "Florian Rittmeier" <> wrote in message news:%... > Hello Chris, > > Chris De Herrera schrieb: >> Hi, >> Have you synchronized the Pocket PC 2003 with other PCs? > I did not before you asked, but used it now to check if its the fault of > the device which is not the case. Yes, there is a category "Portable Devices" (Tragbare Geräte) in which an entry "Pocket_PC" appears through which I can browse the filesystem of the device. > Also, can you tell me the model name of your PPC and the exact OS version? It is a "T-Mobile MDA". Short model name is just "MDA". The "T-Mobile" refers to a german mobile phone provider. Microsoft Pocket PC 4.20.0 (Build 13252) This device normally runs Pocket PC 2002, but T-Mobile offers an update to Pocket PC 2003 which I installed last sunday (to be able to sync with Windows Vista). Synchronization with ActiveSync 4.5 on a XP machine works fine. > From the log: > > wmdc Verbose: 0 : Could not obtain device WPD PnP ID > > This tells me that we can't find your device through the IPortableDevice > interface, but you are connecting to the RAPI service. Hello Chris,
since my last hard reset (on last sundays afternoon) the device was only conected to my vista and my xp machine, therefore it cannot have created more than two partnerships. :-) But thanks for the idea. Hello Steve,
can you tell me if my information was helpfull to you and if you have any further ideas/comments for me? Is the problem something which belongs to my special version of the PDA OS (fault of the PDA manufacturer who build my Windows CE) or is it an issue in WMDC (which will be fixed)? Thanks Florian |

Hello,
I took a look at what you posted and passed that info on to another member of my team to look at. It's strange that you'd be getting that WPD failure in WMDC but are still able to browse the device through the file explorer. Have you tried upgrading to WMDC 6.1 which was just recently released? http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobi...icecenter.mspx -- Thanks, Steve Spiller Development Lead Windows Mobile Device Center This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. Hello Steve,
thanks again for the tipp. I installed the WMDC 6.1 a few days before and nothing changed, but I was wondering, why the version number under Help->Info was still something with 6.0.xxxx. I now tried to install again and this time it worked (don't know why). And now with the new version my PDA is detected even by the WMDC and currently synchronizing my calender and contacts, therefore everything works fine now! Thanks a lot to you and your time for reading all these messages and answering and providing updates which help (even if I don't know why... :-) ). A short question at the end, what is this with these online.microsoft.com mail addresses? Are they just for internal use in the ngs, because some time (few weeks) before I tried to reach you using my mail client but a got mailer daemon.
