WMDC and Sync centre cannot find partnership

I am using Windows Vista Basic Edition and I cannot sync with my Dell PDA.
The problem started last week.Prior to that was able to sync.

I noticed that in WMDC 5.0, the file management is no longer there. Mobile
settings is still there but cannot detect partnership. Same for Sync Ctre, it
does not seem to be connected.

Thought it was to do with the installing the latest version WMDC 6.1.
Downloaded (32 bit) but after running the application, nothing turns up. My
PDA device is cradled and on , but WMDC does not run?

Also tried using Bluetooth to connect, but does not able to detect?
Need help, as I am not able to sync my Contacts and calendars to the PDA.

Go to Device Manager find your PDA, right click on it and uninstall it.
Re-boot you PC with you PDA cradled

Actually tried what you suggested earlier -and re-tried. No avail.In the
device manager, it is called windows mobile remote adapter. After uninstall,
the process 're-installs' itself again, configures WMDC, but after that
nothing happened.All the time my PDA is cradled and switched on.
Still need help. anyone? My issue WMDC does not respond? Sync Centre also
does not respond.
