Could you explain what you meant by "..the phone acts like it wants to sync,
but I don't even get the USB connect sound from my laptop anymore." Does the
phone appear under My Computers when it is connected to the PC? Also you
mention that other devices connect without a problem so the issue here would
be definitely related on the device side or the cable. If you are using the
same cable to sync other devices, then the cable also can be ruled out.
