I used to be able of seeing thumbnails and previews for .wmf files in Windows
XP, but never the same in Windows Vista.

How to make Windows Vista able to generate previews and thumbnails for these
files?

MSFT has deemed .wmf and animated .gif files to be archaic and/or dangerous,
so Windows Explorer won't show them.

You can view them with IrfanView...

It works fine on my Vista computer. Have you changed file associations or
something?

You can also view them in 'Windows Movie Maker' (of all programs), via a
'mass import'

Correction after further testing: it works fine on *some* wmf files. Sorry.

I found that irfan view can show all of the files that I looked at,
however. It's a free download.
