Hi

A pretty standard reply to this will be for you to reinstall WLM (if you
haven't). Also, try closing all other applications before starting WLM. If
that still fails, try going into safe mode (with network) and see if it
works, then (this is where it gets tedious) check, one by one, if any other
process is causing a conflict.

If you have IE7, WLMD, and any other Windows Live (or related) products, try
reinstalling all of them too.

Rgds, Mike

Greetings,

One solution for this is if you've had the debug log file on and its grown too big. To
correct, go to your My Documents\My Received Folder and if you have a MsnMsgr.txt file,
delete it and then try signing in. If this works, be sure to click the Tools menu, then
Options, Connection category, then Advanced Settings button, and uncheck the box under
'Connection Logging'.

If that didn't help the problem, you could try completely removing your contact cache store.

To do so, shut down Messenger, then clicking Start, then
Run, type:
%appdata%\Microsoft

Right-click the MSN Messenger folder and choose Delete. Then restart Messenger and see if
the problem has been corrected.

Finally, if you're still experiencing the problem and you're using a router in your network
configuration, you might want see if there is a firmware updates available for your
particular router model from the manufacturer.

Hi,

Reinstalling will not do anything. Why? because the uninstallation process does not remove
any Messenger client settings or saved information.

I have been using MSN for years and years and I recently downloaded the new
Live version, my pc has the same issue as listed above. I constantly
re-installed it and removed any traces of the program, ran MSCONFIG exc,
still a constant reboot. If I open up FastDefrag I have like a 50% useage by
Live Messenger. AMD Atholon 3400, 1gb of ram, 250gb HD exc exc. As I said I
have tried the listed steps to no avail, on top of that tried to go back to a
7.5 version but eveytime I do that it tried to automatically update to live
messenger and goes no further. The only step I havent tried is built in
firmware updates because I dont have a modem with firmware I had to manually
install PPPOE and connect witha broadband connection, any other help or am I
up the creek for now without a paddle?
