WMP 11 & Pioneer 5020

I have connected my Pioneer Kuro plasma to my Lynksys WRT54G router and
enabled media sharing on WMP 11. I can see the TV in WMP 11, I can ping it on
the network. When I go to the screen on the to TV to access the available
DLNA server nothing shows up. I think I have changed every possible setting
on the router and firewall setup to see if I can get it to show the server
name on the TV. Does anyone have any idea how to solve this issue?

If your tv is in dvr-ms or wtv format, it is not supported by Pioneer's Home
Media Gallery. I had the same problem. There are several options I know
of, but none of them are very good. 1) Convert the format of the recorded
tv to a format that is supported (check your tv manual and online for one of
the free converters). 2) Connect your tv directly to the pc by one of the
external video outputs (have hdmi?). 3) Pioneer also says you can connect
your pc ethernet jack with a crossover cable to the ethernet in on the tv,
but I have not tried that one. 4) Stream to some sort of extender that
supports the format you have (XBox for example). 5) Use something other
than Media Center to record tv. For example, I can use Aver Media Center
and it works just fine.

BTW, only one unsupported file in the folder you are trying to view on the
tv will cause the problem. Make sure everything in the file is in a
supported format. They don't have to be the same, but do have to be
supported. You may also want to explore the forums at thegreenbutton.
There is a lot of good info there.

If anyone has other solutions, I would really like to hear them.

Good luck.

I should have also mentioned that you have to make sure that the pc with wmp
on it has sharing enabled specifically for your pioneer tv. Allow "ALL"
ratings, etc. You can do that from the pull down menu in wmp. If you do
not see the Pioneer in wmp, you may have a network related issue.

Thanks for the information... To clarify a bit the server name does not even
show up on the Tv, it does not make the connection. I think the network
connection is ok, since I can see the Tv in WMP 11 and I can ping it.
However, I have read on another forum that WMP 11 does not support DLNA
equipment. Any other information you might have would helpful.

Sorry I misunderstood your post. I am running wmp 11 on XP and XP MCE 2005
and also wmp 12 on Windows 7. My 151 sees all of them. Previously my
Windows 7 machine was running wmp 11 on Vista. That one also connected. I
suspect a sharing / network issue. I'm no expert on this though. Learned
the hard way. Have you made sure that your media folders are shared --
meaning not just media sharing in wmp?

Three other quick thoughts. 1) Check your HMG setup to make sure they match
your router's. In other words, DHCP is AUTO on both? 2) Try turning auto
connect off, make sure your pc is on and then turn the tv off and back on.
3) Check Pioneer to make sure you have the latest firmware version installed
on the tv. You can find the version under technical info on the tv's menu
and update via usb drive if needed. I'm not optimistic, but it’s the best
I've got for now.

Hi Neil,
I downloaded trial version the other day, haven't set it up yet. Let you
know how it goes. On a side note, I was told that if you look at the version
file for WMP 11 (help-> about WMP 11) and if it is missing the "Indiv
Version" number that will create an issue with the DLNA of WMP 11. I have
reinstalled WMP 11 and still can't get this version number to appear. Any
thoughts on this?

Hello Neil,
Yep thats what I did and found out it was missing. So I re-installed WMP 11
and still no version number. So I am assuming that is what is causing the
DLNA problems. Any ideas on how to correct this?

I had this same problem and followed all the steps you did and still had the
problem. To solve it, i deleted all of the files in the DRM folder (they
were hidden system files) and reinstalled / updated DRM to lastest version.
Everything works flawlessly now - Pioneer can access and play files on XP
device.
