WMP 11 freezes under Vista Ultimate

For some reason my WMP 11 has stopped working in Vista Ultimate. Whenever I
run WMP now, it freezes the system (nothing works, not even ctl-alt-del). I
have to do a hard reboot. It ran previously without a problem--although I
haven't used it in a while so I'm not sure. I have not changed any settings
on the system since it ran last. Any thoughts on where to look?

It is vista ultimate on a HP Dual Core Intel platform with NVIDIA GeForce
7500LE video card,

Have you installed any codecs for Media Player lately that might have caused
this? Try uninstalling them and see if it fixes the problem. Also, make sure
your Video drivers are up to date.
