WMP 11 keeps showing "Windows Media Player is not configured for the Internet"

Hello All,

I'm running Vista Ultimate x64 SP1 RC and recently I have been getting a
problem with Windows Media Player where it constantly says "Windows Media
Player is not configured for the Internet" and it suggests that I run the
"Internet Connection Wizard" to reconnect. There is a similar issue in
Windows XP that can be resolved by running the wizard however the ICW has
been removed in Vista. This is particularly annoying because now my computer
can no longer connect to streaming media though I would prefer not to have
to reformat just to regain the ability to connect to streaming media again.
I have also disabled firewalls and directly connected the computer to the
modem to rule out my network. Lastly I tried enabling "Connect to the
Internet (overrides other commands)" under WMP's options in the player tab.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

HI. I INSTALL MY PC WINDOWS VISTA ULTIMATE 32BIT AND I HAVE THE SAME
PROBLEM.
WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER 11 IS NOT ABILITY TO WORK IN THE WINDOWS VISTA BECAUSE
THE VISTA HAVE WINDOWS MIDIA CENTER. THIS SOFT IS BETTER THAN WMP 11. IT`S
NOT PROBLEM THE FIREWALL
OR ANOTHER SOFT. IT`S NECESSARY NEED CONFIGURATION IN THE PANEL CONTROLL.
OPEN PANEL CONTROLL. OPEN
PADRON PROGRAMME. IN THE PADRON PROGRAMME HAVE MANY PROGRAMMES. YOU CHOOSE
WMP 11 AND ABILITY LIKE
PADRON PROGRAMME. NOW WMP 11 WORK.

Under WMP's Tools:Options:Network settings, are protocols listed under the
Streaming Proxy settings page?

Is Internet Explorer still functioning correctly?

hi! windows media player is not configured for the windows vista. microsoft
use wmp to windows xp. to windows vista have another soft windows media
center. but in my case I use wmp 11 because I don`t clean my HD when I did
install windows vista ultimate 32 bit. I had windows xp and I will update
the windows so wmp has been configured automatically by microsoft. now I use
two soft. but panel controll have a icone automatic playback open and you
choose your option. I belive that wmp go working.
