The common denominator is not discernable, but is doubtful
to be an issue directly with WMP.
That error code seems to be a catchall error when something
goes askew between media playback and software conflict
and/or hardware compatibility issues?
Noted you also have a problem with system restore.
You maybe having underlying problems of which this error is
just a hint.
You can wade through the above results to see if any correlate
with your problem, but I suspect it may require a repair install,
driver updates, resolving software conflicts etc.
Try the above results from the KB.
To eliminate file corruption and hardware issues try another
media player such as VLC:
