I have been trying to view videos in .avi format with Media Player 11 for the
past few days, but it has been giving me problems all of a sudden. Up until
last week I have had no issues but this weekend it started giving me an error
because the sound would play but no video is showing up. When I ask for more
details about the error it says that the error code is C00D11B1. Most of the
reasons the website gives for this error is that my sound device is not
working, but the sound is the only thing that is working.

I have tried to find updates for WMP, but there are none available that I
don't have. I tried to uninstall and reinstall WMP but it is not listed in
the programs list under my control panel and I can't find a link to download
it anyways. I tried to do a system restore to a date that WMP was working in
case another update is messing it up, but my computer is encountering an
error when it tries to do a restore. I'd prefer not to have to get a
different player so if anyone can help me out, it'd be much appreciated.

error code C00D11B1.

A search of the MS KB lists 28 pages of results, with 20 results
per page for that error code.

http://support.microsoft.com/search/...7comm=1&res=20

The common denominator is not discernable, but is doubtful
to be an issue directly with WMP.
That error code seems to be a catchall error when something
goes askew between media playback and software conflict
and/or hardware compatibility issues?
Noted you also have a problem with system restore.
You maybe having underlying problems of which this error is
just a hint.
You can wade through the above results to see if any correlate
with your problem, but I suspect it may require a repair install,
driver updates, resolving software conflicts etc.
Try the above results from the KB.
To eliminate file corruption and hardware issues try another
media player such as VLC: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
