WMP and Network and Sharing

I recently had to format my hard drive due to a problem with my network and
sharing and windows media player. My WMP would not recognize the sound in
videos and then had to close down. Along with that my network and sharing
center continually stopped responding when trying to open it. It still worked
but it gave the little red "x" instead of the connected look. Only three days
later it started doing it again. What could possibly do this? I've rid my
computer of all ad-ware, spyware, and viruses and still it continues. I'm
running Windows Vista (obviously) on a Gateway MX6956 with an intel Core duo
processor with a MArvell Yukon 88E88038 PCI-E Ethernet Controller. It also
has a Intel Pro Network connector.
