WMP crash

Suddenly, nothing will play on WMP. I get the orange highlight and the
exclamation mark. It then scrolls down, hilighting everything. It doesn't
matter what type of file, or whether it's been ripped or downloaded.

The error detail is:
Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with
your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your
computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be
functioning properly.
However, the sound device is fine; it plays radio, movie clips, and music
off other programmes (I Tunes).
