WMP11 hangs when launched from IE7

In Internet Explorer 7, clicking on a video file would bring up WMP11 and
play the file

Now, WMP11 opens, but it's frozen. Have to use Task Manger to end it, as it
is "not responding".

WMP11 will play the files after downloading them.

What's changed from when it used to work: I've installed Java and Shockwave.
Could these plug-ins have screweed up IE7 or WMP11? I haven't installed any
codecs. What to do? Instal WMP9?

Just curious, did you make the movie on your laptop using a webcam right on
your computer? I've been trying to record video/audio from my laptop built
in cam/mic and can't figure out how to do it!! I'm just trying to sit in
front of my laptop and record like a 5 to 10 minute clip so that it could
then be downloaded to myspace or youtube. Do I need different software for
that? Just thought I'd ask. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

What file types are affected? Do audio files work?
Historically, this was usually caused in XP days by particularly buggy video
card drivers.
