Hi there,

Ever since I got an automatic update (say a month or so ago?) I haven't been
able to sign into one specific website. They tell me it's from the Windows
Update blocking "information transfer". Should I just remove the Automatic
Updates I've received in the last month or is that dangerous? It's only one
website but it's one I need to access.

Thanks!

Can you possibly track down which specific update may be the issue? You might do a run to Windows Update, and once there, just select the option to show update History.

What I would suggest for sure is to add "your specific website" to the Trusted sites list in Internet Explorer browser.
For the next exercise, I'll use "yoursite" as an example.

Internet Explorer > main menu /Tools/Internet Options >

Security Tab/ click on green icon Trusted Sites/click Sites button.

Look very closely at line that says:

"Require server verification (https for all sites in this zone" to
*clear* the selection.
(e.g. You want that to be un-checked (un-ticked)).

In the "Add this Web site to the zone:" field, add *your trusted website* to list of "Trusted Sites" --

type
http://www.yoursite.com (click Add)

Click OK. Apply changes to IE browser.

HTH

Hi Maurice,
Thanks for your response. I added the site as you suggested to my trusted
sites. Didn't work. When I tried to remove a Hotfix update (not even sure
this was the problem) it warned me some programs might not work anymore so I
cancelled it.
I also looked under the thread on here title "Accessing Some INternet Sites"
dated 7/10/2004 and when I did as that person suggested Microsoft said my
updates were more current than what I was trying to download.

I think I have to give up here!
But thanks for your help anyway.
