What version of Windows are you using?
(Windows XP? Home or Professional Edition? Service pack level?)
(Start --> Run and type in :
WINVER
and click OK. Give us the first two lines of text including "Microsoft
Windows".)
How much other maintenance do you perform on your computer? (Se the list of
tips below for the normal maintenance tasks yu should be performing.)
How does your computer hook to the network? Meaning is it a Category 5
cable that plugs into the wall or into a router/modem of some sort? Etc..
Can you visit other sites (like
http://office.microsoft.com/)?
Does your school provide you with a local Windows Software Update Server
(WSUS) that you know of?
