Won't restart after installing hardware.

I am working off a fresh install of vista home premium. As soon as I start
to install any of the new hardware vista will not restart and I have to do a
repair restore off of the disk. This has happened for audio, video, and
motherboard as well as just windows update. Any suggestions to fix this?

Maybe the hardware itslf is not Vista compatible.

Have made sure you have the latest Vista compatible drives installed before
trying to restart?

Let me get this straight.
You installed a new OS (Vista), and now you're changing out major hardware
components and expecting the OS to work?
If my interpretation is correct, you're going about this backwards.
You need to assemble the hardware components you wish to use and *then*
install the OS on those components. That way, the correct drivers for the
new motherboard chipset and your other new hardware pieces are installed.
This assumes, of course, that you've purchased components known to be
Vista-compatible.

No, and let me get this straight. When you install Vista from the DVD it
automatically installs the exact correct drivers for the video and audio and
every piece of hardware directly from the windows dvd?

Yes, all vista compatible drivers, well assuming one can believe the
manufacturer.

Not necessarily, but at least you're not saddled with the *old,
incompatible* drivers from the hardware you replaced.

Are you really saying you're trying to install drivers, not hardware? If so,
