Won't search folder?

I have a folder that vista won't search?

It's not a system or hidden folder - it's just one of over a hundred folders
containing music - but windows can't search it?

Is there any property i need to set to make it searchable?

I think i've found some sort of bug - which is ironic since the search
facility is suppose to be improved on Vista

i've got a lot of folders it won't search and the folders are from my old XP
machine - there is no apparent difference in properties and yet if i
copy/paste them then Vista can see the new folder

Did you take ownership of the folder? Rightclick, properties, security,
advanced, owner tab, hit the edit button, select your current log on name,
check the "replace owner on subcontainers and objects, and hit apply.

Then let the indexer do its thing. It should start indexing the files, if
not, have the indexer re-index your machine.

There's a number of reasons why search might fail to pick up files in a
particular folder. The main 2 would probably be...


1. The folder being an indexed location ie either a subfolder of
C:\Users\YourUserName or added via Control Panel > Indexing Options

2. Having 'Index this folder...' enabled for the folder / files.
Right-click folder > Properties > Advanced
