Won't start up properly

I always seem to have a problem these days lol
but I normally put my laptop to sleep
I shut it down every so often
update everything when I can
this morning I shut it down
when I got up I started it up
passed the laptop to my mate
and before i'd turned it on at the plug she said the mouse wasn't
moving
so I turned it off
when I turned it back on it booted normally
loaded normal and then I just couldn't click anything
it's like i'm just moving the mouse and not clicking any buttons
so I turned it off
when it's like this it doesn't sleep
it doesn't respond it's like it's frozen but it hasn't
if I boot it up in safe mode
things work completely fine
probably because only important system files are loaded and nothing
else
i'm in safe mode with network
so I could get on here
what could be the cause of all this happening?
at the moment i've got 4 different scans going on
checking for trojans and viruses
I tried a system restore 3 times
it says an error occured but doesn't say what

i've had these downloaded and working together for about half a year
and i've never had any problems
it's just started randomly and out the blue today
I restarted my laptop and it just messes up
I can only do things on safe mode
