Word 2002 not working following last update

Following today's Windows update(s) (14 of them) Word XP (2002) doesn't work
i.e. will not start ("the application failed to initialize properly"). So:
1) has anyone else had this? and
2) should I simply re-install? if so, how to get all the updates?

Did you try to repair Word from Add or Remove Programs?
