I am about to get out my system restore dvds and completely start over on
this laptop out of frustration. I bought a Sony Vaio in April of 2007 and
gave the trial version of Office 2007 a run. I liked what I saw and
purchased the small business version prior to the trial expiring. I
uninstalled the trial version prior to installing the purchased version. I
am not sure at what point the problem started and it only seems to affect
Word but it was last summer some time. I have been hoping one of the updates
(either Vista or Office) would solve the problem but they haven't.

When I start Word 2007 and a new doc opens or I open an existing doc the
busy rotating icon alternates with normal. I can type, select text and
backspace(as well as any other function of a normal working Word) but with
some lag time. Having heard of problems with Vista I installed Office on my
desktop running XP and have absolutely no problems. I was in Best Buy and
saw the latest version of my laptop with Word 2007 working perfectly. Cannot
seem to find a solution on Google.

I have uninstalled and re-installed Office on the laptop as well as the
update but still have the same problem. Has anyone else had this problem and
found a solution?

Thanks
John

strange...

have you installed the SP1 for Office?

what antivirus are you using? Can you turn it off for a little and see if
that strange thing stops? some antivirus
check for viruses in office files.

Look at the botton of WORDS status bar. There is a little book with a pencil
there, normally when you type its moving (animation) but when you stop
typing the animation stops. Does yours stop or does it seem to go on
animating?

John

Check the options in your installed anti-virus program. I had the same
problem and it ended up being an option for the AV program to check Word
files each time they were accessed.

I might also be inclined to check for and disable all add-ins, at least
temporarily

Click on the Office Orb, choose WORD OPTIONS, go to ADD-INS

select the add-in types from the drop down box and select GO, then disable
them
