Word 2007 thesaurus not found

I just recently installed MS Word 2007, but when I go to use the research
button, it says that the thesaurus isn't installed. It then asks me if I want
to install it. Of course, I say "yes". It tries, but then tells me to put
the MS Office Premium 2003 disk into the CD drive. Now, I am using 2007, not
2003 (had that installed before, but now 2007, and am using 2007 when this
occurs). I have even tried inserting the 2003 disk, but it doesn't find the
file it is looking for (data1.msi), so it won't install. I tell it to
cancel, and then it will go on with the other research options.

How do I install the thesaurus in MS Word 2007?

Christine

Hey Christine,

The best thing you can do with corrupt software is to reinstall it, that
normally fixes any issues with in the programs, unless core components of
Windows have taken a hit to. What you'll need to do is first strip out MS
Office 2003 (or 2007), which ever one you prefer. This will be done by using
this utility:

http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...bd/msicuu2.exe

Install this, run it and search for any MS Office software you have
installed. Once you've done this, clear out any temp or temporary files you
have via Internet Explorer--doesn't always have a significant effect, but it
does help.

Well I hope I've been of assistance!

If this doesn't work, let me know and I'll see what else I can come up with.

Good Luck!

I got it fixed. It took hours, but this is what I did.

I removed(through add/remove) a trial version of Office 2007, and a version
that Ofc update told me wasn't an original version. I had figured that when
I installed the Office 2007 Ultimate that I just bought, it would over write
the others. But I guess I was wrong on that assumption.

So, by removing those, it corrupted my good version of Ofc 2007 also. When
I tried a simple reinstall, it wouldn't do it. So, I sat here for hours
while I tried a repair with the Ofc 2007 disc. Eventually the repair did
take. Weirdly enough, when I went to update, it made me insert an old Ofc
2000 disc in order to install the update. Who knows why. Fortunately I
still had those discs, and the installation of the updates went through. I
got all the updates microsoft said were needed, re-activated my new Ofc 2007,
and now it works, including the thesaurus.

It's a good thing I at least know a little about computers or, like many
other people, I would have to call a computer tech and pay a big price to get
it all straightened out.

Now if I can just get my copy of Carel Paint Shop Pro to start working
again, I'll have everything up and running. Haven't figured that one out yet
though.

Thanks for all your help. I do appreciate it.
