Word 97 Files, What to do now?

All my old documents (resume, letters, etc.) were prepared in Word 97 on my
PC. I just purchased a lap top with Vista, and I am not sure what the best
course of action would be to allow use of these documents on this computer.
I still have the office 97 program, but have read that there may be problems
if I try to load and use it with vista. I am not against buying a newer word
version, but if it is not necessary, I would rather not. If I do need to buy
a newer version, what should it be to be able to open the word 97 ".doc"
files that I have transferrd to my new computer via email.

Thank you.
Please consider that Jesus Christ truly died and truly has risen from the
dead.

Newer versions of MS Word will happily load Word 97 documents.

Additionally, so will the Free Sun Open Office

Newer versions of Word will always open docs created in previous versions

Docs that are 2008 years old may present a problem though

Yes, even Word '07 has problems reading animal skin and parchment documents.

Just for the record, Sun's Star Office (a commercial product) and
OpenOffice (an open source project from OpenOffice.org) are not the same
product.

Your welcome.
Please consider that NGs are not the place to be selling your religion.
Everyone is entitled to a sig but we don't need it forced upon us throughout
a thread.
Thanks. Bye.

Please sell your religion elsewhere, not here.
