Wordpad Can't Read Word 6.0 Files after Update

It seems one of the recent updates, maybe SP2, has updated my WordPad to a
version that won't even read Word 6.0 files. I know I used to be able to
read them with WordPad but I now get the error that it Can't Read Word 6.0
Files. Is there any fix for this?

I discovered the fix to this problem. It seems one of the XP upgrades edits
the ability of WordPad to read the files. The fix is located here
