OK.
I am writing from Italy, I do not know why this morning I visited this NG...
I do not use WinXP, my OS is still Win98 SE regularly registered; when I
will decide to upgrade to WinXP I will buy it but I understand you didn't
.... ;-) ...
I thought that the below workaround was known by all users worldwide, but it
seems this is not true, who still is experiencing the issue can go ahead
with the below workaround, please do not thank me, it was my pleasure.
For Internet Explorer users:
1. You'll need to download trixie:
http://www.bhelpuri.net/Trixie/Trixie.htm
and the relevant user script:
http://www.bhelpuri.net/Trixie/Scripts.htm
Simply download the .js file and drop it into
C:\Programmi\Bhelpuri\Trixie\Scripts folder.
2. Fire up Internet Explorer (32-bit) and click Tools > Trixie Options. You
should see WGA Workaround.
If it's not already checked, check it. Uncheck the others if you don't
want to use them (recommended).
3. Visit Microsoft Downloads or Microsoft Update to test it out!
------
Some details:
Installing Trixie
Trixie requires the Microsoft .NET framework to be installed.
To install Trixie, download and run TrixieSetup (latest version: 0.2.3 -
version history). You should ideally close all instances of Internet
Explorer before doing this. By default, TrixieSetup installs Trixie to your
Program Files\Bhelpuri\Trixie directory (you can of course change this
location). It also installs a few scripts to the Program
Files\Bhelpuri\Trixie\Scripts directory.
Restart IE after installing Trixie. Once you have restarted, go to the
Tools menu. You should see a menu item called "Trixie Options". Selecting
that will show you the list of scripts installed and which one's are enabled
or disabled.
Once you have installed Trixie, you browse the Web just like you always do.
Trixie works in the background executing the scripts on the designated pages
and customizing them to your needs.
