works 8.5 speadsheet print error

I have downloaded a patch on my desktop to solve this problem. right
click does not have option "run as administrator". I have tried
shortcut, cmd: net user....etc. to no avail. message comes up saying
syntex is yada yada yada. so the computer won't let me change that way.
So...am I doomed to use my xp excel on my old computer? HELP
