Hi

So we know what the future of Yahoo Messenger is - for those who don't, just
visit this website: http://messenger.yahoo.com/windowsvista.php

On this site you will find the same thing
http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/archi...f-and-net.aspx
BUT with COMMENTS

Almost all of the comments read something like "I hope Windows Live
Messenger will be like that!"

It's not htat I want to talk about future releases or anything, but I just
wanted to talk about what Me, you, everybody wants in the next version of
WLM. So I started this thread, amongst all other "help! Problem!" threads.

Well, what I wanted to say is, I've been expecting transparent windows (just
like the ones in the future yahoo messenger) in WLM 8.0! I don't know why...
I just did! It seemed perfect: the main windows would be transparent except
for the 'swoosh thing image' on the top.

That said, I was thinking of maybe, a personal message, other than the
'online/away/busy... ones.
What things would you change/add/remove?

Greetings,

I know the WPF thing won't be happening in Messenger in the short-term.

Why? What's so much more important than wpf?

Hi,

Basically it would take rewritten a good chunk of Messenger to make it happen. Messenger
isn't written in managed code for a start.

Hi,

Now I get it - that's why the yahoo folks said " we rewrote the yahoo
messenger FROM SCRATCH".

Well, I still think that it's a shame we won't be seeing wlm written in wpf
soon-which means wlm version 9 will not bring wpf. But it's kind of ironic:
microsofts rival is building their messenger on wpf, and microsofts own
product isn't written in it. What a blow. But seriously, who cares about
that?!

I just want a robust, and reliable messenger with fancy windows ^^ oh, and
new features. I was really suprised by sharing folders. Could something as
inovative as that happen? Over at the messenger blog, the speak of a
SupreCool(tm) new feature xD I wonder what that one is...
