Hello.
I´ve installed wsus 3.0 in a windows 2003 member server and it works fine.
Recently i´ve run dcpromo in that server and promote to domain controller.
Now it gives an error on windows internal database and wsus 3.0 does not
work. I read the microsoft article "http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929665",
but i do not understand how to do .
I´ve tried to remobe wsus 3.0 but it gives an error and do not remove.
Can anyone help.

Jose Alves

Yep.... ya *cannot* run dcpromo on an IIS machine.

Yeah.. that's yet another problem to contend with!

[a] Uninstall WSUS, keeping the database, logs, and content.
[b] Uninstall IIS.
[c] Reinstall IIS.
[d] Reinstall WSUS -- although you may still have to fix the database server
problem with KB929665, but then again, reinstalling WSUS might fix it.

If not, to fix the database problem, per the instructions in the KB
article... run this command:

Msiexec <MSI_File_Name> CALLERID=OCSetup.exe REINSTALL=ALL
REINSTALLMODE=omus /qn REBOOT=ReallySupress /l*v <Log_File_Path>

but, that will also require the <MSI_File_Name> for the WID installation,
and I don't know what that is, and the KB article doesn't say.

All things considered, Jose, I think your *easiest* option will be to simply
reinstall the operating system, rerun dcpromo, and then install IIS/WSUS.

Make backups of the database and content store so that you can restore them
after reinstalling WSUS.

If you go this route remember to change the machine from a domain controller
back to a member server before the reinstall.

Harry.

Hello. I think that it´s no possible. I can not do that because my server
it´s an application and a database server, so i need the server working all
the time.

If possible a just want unninstall (automaticly or manually) the wsus 3.0
and the windows internal database created by wsus.
I do not have any proble in reeinstall wsus 3.0 in other server.
I just want cleanup wsus from the server where wsus it´s not functioning.

Thanks
