WSUS 3.0 SP1 Snap-In

I've seen this thread, but no fixes.Unable to run WSUS , returns MMC could
not create snap-in, night not have been installed correctly.

My first thought would be to remove the snap-in, but MMC doesn't give me any
option to remove a snap-in.
Second; Reinstall WSUS3SP1, but I'd like to be confident I don't lose my
current settings.

well, the whole thing is mooted at this point anyway. I ran setup and left
the option to uninstall the logs, db, etc. alone.
G'rrrr ... I now have no db or application, only a Program
Files\Update\Logfiles directory.

Pls forgive my obtuseness. Of course, I reinstalled WSUS3SP1, pointing i at
the existing db, but still no joy.
The wizard won't complete, unexpected error.
