hello,
i have a wsus 3.0 sp2 that succsesfully updates my pc's (win xp) and win
servers 2003 but has some issues with my 2008 ad servers. one specific 2008
which has AD installed does not report to wsus. i have deleted the server,
wsus rescan and re-found the server but still does not get updates and shows
that the server has not yet reported (for a week now).
how can i force the server to report to wsus to receive the updates?

Secondly, as i have a gpo for the wsus, i would like to give the options to
users, when wsus can not be found (down for maintenance or users not in the
domain network, travellers) to be able to search and update from the
internet. istehre an option for that?

thank you

Hello George,

For travelling users that are seldom on the domain, configure the machines
to use MS update directly and not WSUS.

Did you make sure the GPO is applied to the 2008 machine with gpresult /v
or rsop.msc?

Best regards
