WSUS Clients not detecting updates

For some reason my wsus clients are not detecting updates when checking in
with the wsus servers. The updates have been approved for installation. I
even try to force the install by selecting a deadline time frame of the past,
but no luck. The following is a line that I always see in the update.log file:

Initializing simple targeting cookie, clientId =
afaf03ea-ba15-44d1-b256-55a7cfccdb78, target group = , DNS name =
dcqhxb91.kaufcan.com

Does anyone know why this is happening? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Rock,

Perhaps try the WSUS Newsgroup

On the web:
<http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/list/en-us/default.aspx?dg=microsoft.public.windows.server.up date_services>

In your newsreader:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsof...pdate_services

Right pew, wrong church. Forwarded to WSUS newsgroup
(microsoft.public.windows.server.update_services) via crosspost as a
convenience to OP.

On the web:

Go to your WSUS console and look in Options, Computers. What is it set to?
Have you checked which target group the computers appear in at the WSUS console?
Did you approve the updates for all computers or for specific groups?

Also check that the updates have finished downloading to the WSUS server.

Harry.
