WSUS downloading

I have a question about the file storage in WSUS 3.1
When I configured WSUS, I set it to -not- download the updates (and
such) until approved.
When I finished and selected the initial sync it downloaded 1.5 gig of
something.
What did it download??

When I approved XP SP3, SBS2003 SP1, and Server 2003 I got another gig+
of files.

Is this normal??

TIA
Rich W.

It seems so.

Just to give you a number:

I need updates for:
Windows 2k, XP,Server 2003, Vista, 7,
Office 2003, 2007
SQL-Server 2000, 2005, 2007
Visual Studio

All in English and German; my WsusContent is about 67GB now, although I
use the Cleanup WIzard regularly.

Just my 2cc, WOlfgang

Yes, the first 1.5gb is the supporting content for the "WSUS Required"
updates which are Auto-Approved at installation.

The normal disk usage for Win2003 and WinXP updates is probably around
3-5Gb, after everything currently needed has been approved.
