Hello,
I got SQL 2000 running on a windows 2003 SP1 box. This Box also runs
SMS2003. The trouble started when clients were unable to synchronise
with the WSUS server. the WSUS server error got lots of errors in its
log; "Update 8243 has no core XML". couldnt find what was going on. So
I decided to take the fast solution, deinstalling and installing WSUS.
Uninstall went fine. When i installed WSUS and choose to use 'an
existing database server" the installation fails. I read this in the
log:
***** 2006-03-27 17:18:50 15:18:50 Executing External Command:
C:\Program Files\Update Services\\tools\osql\osql.exe -S SZ1130 -E
-b -n -i "C:\Program Files\Update Services\Database\CreateDatabase.sql"
*****
The CREATE DATABASE process is allocating 0.63 MB on disk 'SUSDB'.
The CREATE DATABASE process is allocating 0.49 MB on disk 'SUSDB_log'.
Msg 913, Level 16, State 8, Server SZ1130, Line 1
Could not find database ID 7. Database may not be activated yet or may
be in
transition.
I am able it manually run the CreateDatabase.sql script succesfully. I
cant trace why the WSUS installation fails. ne1 an idea?
the other problem, is when i tell the WSUS installation to install
MSDE. i dont get the error stated above
The application log in the eventvwr gives an event ID 11722, action
PERF_COUNTER_INST sounds like installstion of performance counters.
couldnt find why it fails. When i ran the installation ( with exact the
same settings again, it failed on SUS_SERVICE_INST. and i gave up
So im not able to install WSUS on this box with neither method.
Has anyone any suggestions ?
Regards
Sander
