Hello,

I've been running WSUS for about a month now. I have no complaints other
than everytime I enable the policy, pretty much all machines slowdown a lot.
svhost.exe spikes up to 70 and 80% usage and of course that means quite the
performance downgrade.

Any fixes outhere.

This has been slowly becoming more and more of a problem in our company too.
It has gotten to the point that we have to turn the GPO off most of the time,
and only turn it on for a few days for the updates to hit. I have not found
anything even close to a fix yet. BTW, I also noticed this happening on my
XP Home computer at home. So I don't think it is necessarily a WSUS issue.

The closest i've come to finding an answer is in KB916089

I'm going to try it.

The brandnew http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927891/en-us may be
something you might have a look at.

KB927891 is available for public download via DownloadCenter:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...9-404327772e5a
contains the version for Windows XP SP2.

KB927891 does not only fix KB916089, it *replaces* KB916089.

IOW:
If your machine is showing the symptoms described in MSKB article
916089, you don't need to call MS to ask for KB916089. Installing
KB927891 should be sufficent.

Bye,
Freudi
