WSUS Report: Office 2003 Service Pack 2 "not required"

We are pretty standard on our Office Edition. All 500 systems are Office 2003
PRO SP1. However, WSUS reports that about 60% of systems do require office
SP2 and about 40% do not. This is clearly some bug. Even for my own system
WSUS reports that Office 2003 Service Pack 2 "not required", but Office
Updates website reports that I do need the update. All this is very
frustrating, any ideas anyone?

BTW, there are a whole bunch of organizations with this problem, not just
us. Check it out.

Yes !
I confirm this problem .
I have identical situation only for systems with Office 2003 Professional
load from CD with integrated Sp1 .For other systems with Office 2003
Professonal load from original Cd Wsus work fine and report for Sp2 .

I wait Microsoft for correct product ID or other in the Sp2 in the Wsus .If
the wait is too long I make the batch file in silence mode for install
original Sp2 in this systems .

This "problem" is most commonly encountered when clients have been installed
from /patched/ Office AIPs (Administrative Installation Points).

The 'fix' for this solution is to revert the AIP back to RTM code, and
maintain all Office patching via WSUS.

See http://www.wsuswiki.com/OfficeAIPs for additional details.
