WSUS Server Download Status Stopping due to proxy server

The WSUS server download stops because I am behind a proxy server that cannot
be altered, so that I must find a solution that does not require touching it.
The update continues as long as I am at the server and a browser is open,
and I frequently refresh the browser. Once the download stops, it does not
continue.
