Since the 14th, my WSUS 3.0 synchronizations have been failing with the
following error:

I also pulled this from the SoftwareDistribution.log file

I've tried looking all over for a fix to this, but can't find anything.
Could use some help on this one.

I'm not aware of any changes I may have made on that day.

Thanks!

I am receiving similar error messages on my servers. I also have not found a
resolution as of yet. What kind of firewall are you running ?

I am currently having the same issues with almost exactly the same setup. It
WAS working fine, but now I am getting the same errors (SBS 2003 R2,
Sonicwall 2040 enhanced)

I am still working with a friend/techie to try to resolve - so far we can
find no cause for the error on the server, and are going to try a few more
tests over the weekend like restarting the firewall - possibly uninstalling
WSUS and reinstalling it.

In addition, we have learned that domain workstations are unable to reach
the Windows update site properly - however, computers outside of our network
are able to. (which presents more tests for us).

We are running a Sonicwall TZ 170 Wireless. I have monitored my log files
within the sonicwall and not found anything that would indicate the sonicwall
is causing the problem and nothing has changed that I know of. Have you seen
anything in your sonicwall log for the time period that you are trying to
sync ?

I've been having issues on the windows update website as well. get this error
on all machines:

[Error number: 0x800A138F]
The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are
trying to view. The options provided below might help you solve the problem.

No, in fact to be sure we have added a few sites (microsoft.com
windowsupdate.com) to the list of trusted sites - no change.

I don't have my sonicwall logs going back that far, but i just had a
syncronization succeed. I changed absolutely nothing.

I unplugged one of my servers from our network and configured it to work on a
DSL line using a Netopia box as a router. Tested syncing and it works!
Sonicwall has to be the problem. What's weird is how it worked for many
months without a problem and all of a sudden stopped working (we have changed
nothing on the sonicwall).
I will update you guys when I call sonicwall and figure out what needs to be
done to get this working. Thanks!
