WTF is wrong with Vista Search?

How can I get the XP search GUI within Vista Ultimate?
I despise the new Vista search. It assumes too much, takes too long
and even when files exist, it returns no results.
In a nutshell, Vista file search SUCKS!

Is there anything I can do besides downgrade to XP?

Resorting to XP search is incredibly stupid. Vista search is the same thing but uses an index. If you want to search for a file go to your C: and in the top right corner enter something into the search bar...boom...XP search all over again.

You want to know what is even more incredibly stupid? The fact that
your suggestion is exactly what I did to begin with and came to the
same end: nothing found.

Anyone else care to give a meaningful suggestion?

You are quite right.
Vista's default search is quite poor.
It seems Vista has some default search locations and will miss files known
to exist elsewhere.

I did a few quick tests and it seems to not even look in the Windows folder
if one is looking for system files

The good news is that like XP...Vista alos has advanced search options...
so if you poke around a bit you can improve the search behavior

Your right, you should probably go back to windows 98. Vista just is a little to complicated right now

Hi E,

Try disabling the Index to have accurate search results. This tutorial
will show you how to.

You should try the search feature in Ubuntu. It's much quicker than
either XP or Vista. Check it out at http://www.ubuntu.com/ It's free and
comes with access to over 25,000 free programs.

If you were a complete moron or retard you would try Ubuntu. If you are a
normal computer user, you would stay far far far far far away from Ubuntu as
you could. Ubuntu is a piece of SH$T and not worth anything. It is just
for Alias to play with.

Just FYI
