I don't think that this is another Microsoft strategy against piracy, because
if this error had something to do with an illegal product-key Microsoft would
post a message like "this product-key is not vaild" (the same way they built
in such a "tool" in SP1)!
As I am getting this error message after installing a copy of winxp home sp1
(baught the day before yesterday, i. e. absolutely legally and paid, but
without entering a product key as this is an oem-version), I can only imagine
that this is a server problem...
But you never know when using Microsoft products...
