Hi,

I'm trying to use the windows update site but the 0x800A0046 error appears.
I was doing all the checks and permissions list okay exept for the system
security descriptor checks:

sc sdset wuauserv DA;;CCLCSWRPWPDTLOCRRC;;;SY)
;;CCDCLCSWRPWPDTLOCRSDRCWDWO;;;BA)(A;;CCLCSWLOCRRC ;;;AU)(A;;CCLCSWRPWPDTLOCRRC;;;PU)

[SC] OpenService FAILED 5:

Access is denied.

After some research I get the
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;836926, but in the
poit 10 where said

10. Register the following DLLs: • Wuapi.dll
• Wuaueng1.dll
• Wuaueng.dll
• Wucltui.dll

It get s the error DllRegisterServer in wuaueng.dll failed.
Return code was: 0x80070005.

Version of the wuaueng.dll is 5.4.3790.2182. I can't run the windows
automatic updates service, WinXP SP2.

I don't know how to follow. . . . thanks for any help.

Unfortunatly, not way . . . Because

Resolution Suggestion One:
# Remove the user account that is experiencing difficulty from the Guests or
Limited account groups:

I'm Using a Domain Username, which not appear alone, anyway this user it is
added to the Administrator group.

Resolution Suggestion Two:
# Set the Security Descriptor:

Access is denied

Resolution Suggestion Three:
# Verify the Local Administrator and Service account are added to the
"Impersonate a client after authentication" security policy.

They are already added.

Thanks

Try this....
Boot into Safe Mode and login as the "Administrator."
Open Admin Services and check the status of Automatic Updates and
BITS. Set Auto Updates to Auto and BITS to at least Manual. If
Auto Updates had not started, start it. If it had started, stop
it and restart it. Reboot and login as the user. See if you can
re-register wuaueng.dll and see if Windows Updates works.
