Ive had the same problem as the original poster.
Ive followed step 1 (closing wuauserv, and reg the dll's)
This moves me forward (it doesnt hang on preparing for
download or downloading update screens) but the updates
all now come up as fails -
checking the view update history it tells me that they
failed with error 80246005
Any ideas?
