Hi, Bruce;
I found this on "internal error" and even though it doesn't quite match what
you describe it may be worth a try.

You will also want to adjust the WU V5 related items in your IE Trusted
Zone. Follow these steps:
1. From the toolbar in Internet Explorer, click Tools, click Internet
Options, and then click Security.
2. Click Trusted Sites Zone, and then click Sites.
3. Click to clear the Require server verification (https

for all sites in
this zone option.
4. In the Add this Web site to the zone: text box, type
http://*.microsoft.com, and then click Add.
5. Click OK.
6. With Trusted Sites still highlighted, click Custom Level, and then select
Enable for the following items:
.. Download signed ActiveX controls.
.. Download unsigned ActiveX controls.
.. Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe.
.. Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins.
.. Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting.
7. Click OK, and then click OK again to exit Internet Properties.
Beyond that, you may need to adjust firewall/proxy settings for how the
desktop goes through the laptop to get to the outside world. Much of that
depends on your local configuration, so no details to offer.
